In addition, the studies that NARSAD funds examine mental disorders from a variety of perspectives - genetic, functional, structural, psychopharmacologic -- through a variety of the most advanced techniques.

NARSAD's stellar Scientific Council, a volunteer body of 116 leading neuroscientists, including two Nobel Prize winners and four former directors of the National Institute of Mental Health, rigorously reviews and selects research proposals for funding.

* Become a partner with NARSAD in building the field of neuropsychiatric research by helping young scientists launch their research programs and by sustaining the research of more seasoned scientists. The initial funding NARSAD provides early-career scientists for pilot studies frequently leads to larger federal and private grants to expand their research programs. For senior scientists with extensive records of success, NARSAD funding allows the pursuit of novel approaches to research -- which other granting agencies often will not consider -- with the possibility of high rewards.
